DJ Promotions Isn't Just About Advertising!

Setting up DJ promotions is a must if you want to become well-known, but advertising is not the only way that a DJ can promote his services to the community.

Marketing is made up of many strategies and in this article we will explore just a few:

  • Letterbox drop – many mobile DJs find that their work is predominantly local. As a result it makes sense to promote your services to a local audience. One of the cheapest ways to do this is through a letterbox drop to homes around the local area. Drops can cost as little as $3 per 1000 leaflets so it is good economy of scale.
  • Networking – Joining your local Chamber of Business & Commerce is a great way of meeting other business people in the area and handing out some business cards. You never know when they might need a DJ for a client or employee event.
  • Volunteering your services – Consider sending an open letter of invitation to local schools to offer your DJ services for their next school fete. These events are a great way to actively promote and display your services to parents.
  • Demos – dropping a demo off to clubs where you want to do gigs on a regular basis is great way for them to get to know you and your style of music.
  • Radio spots – volunteer on a community radio station and ask them if in return you can promote your services one or two times during your program.
  • Send out press releases to local newspapers letting them know about your arrival on the scene. Offer a special incentive that they can tell their readers about.
  • Promotional Items – get some t-shirts printed up with your web address and ask your friends to wear them when they go out.

So take a little time to outline what promotion efforts will work best in your community and then tackle them with vigor; you need to get known to get work, so get to work on your DJ Promotions!
