Advice on Disk Jockeys for Effective DJ Promotion

If you need advice on Disk Jockeys to have your advertising be effective for DJ Promotion, be sure and check out these tips.

There are a variety of ways that an up and coming DJ can promote his or her service out to the community.

Let’s take a moment and examine some of the more popular promotional strategies and their associated costs below:

  • Mainstream Radio Advertising – advertising on a mainstream radio station is a huge opportunity.

Many, many hundreds of thousands of people listen to mainstream radio stations every day, 24 hours a day. There are radio stations that focus on people types of music and stations that target particular demographics.

When you know what demographic you are targeting you might like to consider advertising on their station.

Prices will start from $500 for a single 15 second commercial through to $300 odd dollars per 15 second spot if you buy a package deal, this can vary a lot depending on the area you service.

  • Community Radio Advertising – these radio stations are usually run independently and as a result have smaller budget requirements.

The advertisements are usually far cheaper than on mainstream radio starting at around $50-$100 for a single 15 second advertisement.

The downside of course is that fewer people listen to community based stations so you may not be penetrating a sizable market.

  • Major Metropolitan Advertisement – hundreds of thousands of newspapers are sold in major metropolitan areas every single day of the year.

Readership is usually two or three times the number of papers purchased, as the papers are often left on home coffee tables or in lunchrooms at factories and offices.

Advertising in a mainstream newspaper is very unspecific and is more of a blanket approach. The circulation prices for advertisements range from $20 for a small 2 line classified through to $20,000 for a full page advertisement.

  • The Internet is an ever increasing promotional opportunity.

These days you can start up your own web site for less than $300 a year or you can advertise on someone else’s site for around $50 a month.

While having your own site is relatively cheap you need to remember that you will need to keep it maintained which costs you time and you need to keep it promoted so people will visit it.

It can take time to build up web traffic to your site and you may need to spend money for some months before you will notice a drive up in traffic numbers.

I use an easy sitebuilder, no HTML required, that offers a variety of internet marketing tools to help you promote your site. Check it out here.

By advertising on someone else’s site you can pick a site where you know the web traffic already exists so you know that people will start seeing your message immediately.

  • Using both your own site, and advertising on other sites, will help to drive traffic ... and business your way!

  • Business Cards - Business cards are a cheap and effective way to get your name out there, and keep it out there.

As a permanent way to market your DJ services, business cards are a hands down winner and cost effective too. You can get 1,000 cards printed for around $30; some are cheaper and some more expensive, depending on if you add color or graphics.

  • Flyers and Brochures - These can help you let the town know about you and your services. You can do them yourself, very inexpensively, on your home computer and printer, then take a day to post on bulletin boards around town, in clubs, wherever your target audience may see them.

Taking the time now to follow some of this advice on Disk Jockeys to get your foot in the door, will help in your long-term DJ promotion efforts ... and promotion is the first step to success!
