Becoming a Dj

I intend to start with Dj-ing because I found myself very attracted to music (especially house). I just want to know what I should begin with and what I should buy (Dj equipment) to be able to Dj sometimes on house parties, and maybe later on in clubs, but nothing professionnal. My main direction would be progressive house, I know it because on every oppurtunity where I am alone with myself, I enjoy creating some beat in my head (very often I can hear myself when doing it) and making quite a long part of an eventual progressive-house track.
