Choosing DJ Equipment - Asking DJs

Hi I am aspiring to start my journey into the world of DJing, starting strictly Vinyl, and I'm a little lost on how to get things started as far as equipment: What are the best brands to get for a fair price? What equipment should i actually be getting (names and functions)? What's the best way to go about starting something like this? If there's any help you can give me on how to get started it would be much appreciated.
