DJ Equipment Online Tips:
Don't Get Ripped Off

Use these DJ equipment online tips and resources to make sure you don't get ripped off.

There are many advantages if you shop for DJ equipment on the Internet. You will be able to get a better price than retail and you will be able to get the exact products you want.

After looking around on the Internet for some DJ equipment for myself I found that there is a massive range online and that almost any product manufactured can be found and bought. This makes shopping online fantastic as I did not have to settle for whatever brands my local store could get.

If you want a great place to look for the , then look no further than here for , they have a massive range of DJ equipment and good prices.

When I looked I found DJ equipment prices varied by as much as 40%.

I did some research into getting Technics turntables online and found that there were several hundred dollars in difference in prices between some online stores.

You would think that online DJ equipment stores would know you can compare prices easily and thus match the prices of their competitors.

When I had a good look around I found this was not the case.

I did an extensive search on the Internet and I found prices for DJ equipment can vary quite a bit. I even found one place that had the price for a Technics turntable at $400 more!

I don't want anyone new to DJing to get ripped off.

Tips for getting DJ equipment online:

I decided to write this article since I have dedicated this site to educating novice DJs. I am always getting emails from people just starting out asking what turntable or what DJ mixer to get. I am happy to help them out recommending DJ equipment that I have used and liked.

This article is for those who want to benefit from the research I have already done online.

There are 3 main steps to buying an expensive electronic device online:

Step 1: Research.

You will need to know the exact product you want because there is no sales person to read the side of the box for you.

I have written a few articles outlining what are in my opinion the top DJ mixers and turntables. If you want information about what DJ equipment to get have a look at the links below.

Step 2: Find your merchants and compare prices.

Since I have done the research into DJ equipment prices I thought I would share with you what I found when looking for the best prices for the Technics SL-1210MK2 Turntable. Here are the URLs of the best sites I looked at and the prices I found. (These were correct on the 18th January 2007). $399.99 (shown price is from January 2007) from Musician's Friend:

$429.95 GuitarCenter.com $448.95 djhardwares.com $449.95 Topdjgear.com
You can see Musician's Friend had the lowest price. I was quite shocked that this turntable was for sale at $50 more at 2 of the sites. I can understand small variations in cost but $50 more is a rip off.

Step 3: Evaluating online merchants.

When I was looking at sites selling these turntables I found many out of date pages. A well maintained site is a good sign when you are looking for a trusted merchant online. Logic suggests that online merchants that sell a greater volume of product will have the best prices as the buy in bulk and save money through economy of scale. Try emailing your possible merchant to see if you get any response. Also look for any FAQs on the site. A full and useful FAQ is a good sign. If they also offer customer reviews or ratings; that is also a great way to get inside info on the equipment you want to buy. Musician's Friend has the review/rating feature active and it is used by customers all the time!

The best place to get DJ equipment is Musician's Friend:

Throughout my site you will find links to DJ equipment and software I recommend. These links will take you to the actual products and the DJ equipment section of Musician's Friend. They were consistently the lowest priced merchant I found when doing my own research on the internet. But they take it one step further with a 45 Day Best Price Guarantee ... if you find it cheaper somewhere else, just let them know! They also have an absolutely massive range of DJ equipment, offer great customer sevice, secure online ordering and have been around for years. You can even check out the . Definitely a site you can trust. If you are interested in getting some great prices on the best , click here to take a look at Musician's Friend.
