DJ GODDFATHER357

by Bro. L. J. Canaday
(Chicago, Il, USA)

Born and raised on the south side of Chicago where the blocks are always hot. I used 2 hang out with my God brother who was a local DJ and I saw how he rocked the crowds and get first dibs on the ladies.

He had his turntables down in the basement and I'd be down there with him learning some tricks and he saw my drive and talent for music and handed over his Newmark mixer and turntables 2 me with about 12 records.

I took them home cleared off my dresser hooked them up and ran the mixer into my stereo systems (didn't have a real amp) and would stay up all night practicing trying 2 copy what I had seen him do.

Before long when my friends had parties I'd be the DJ and of coarse they didn't know I had no real skills but I wasn't gonna tell them either I played with much confidence and like I had been at it 4 years. I'd get the MIC and worked magic.

15 years later I've passed those Newmarks on 2 someone else who wanted 2 learn and now I blaze the Technics 1200 turntables as well as the Technics CD players.

I still have my equipment on my dresser next 2 my bed I sleep, breathe, love music and bringing others the sound of music. Music is a way of life and I love, love, love being a DJ. This is what I do.
