How to Promote Your DJ Service or Band Using Social Media
Many will ask how to promote your band using social media. This is a great question especially for those bands just beginning out on the circuit or those bands that have now decided to take their music to different locations. Social media is such an important part of having people know where you will be and where you are going as a band.
One of the first recommendations given is to set up a FaceBook page. This really is not hard to do and many can have a page set up within an hour doing an excellent job. FaceBook has become extremely important with the millions of people that use it daily. If your band wants exposure this is a must. By uploading pictures as well as some of the music video clips your fans will have a place to interact with the band and other followers.
Once the FaceBook page is set up it is important to get the word out. By telling others where the page is located allows them to get on the page as well as tell their friends. As an incentive to gather more people to the page faster some bands will offer a set of tickets to say the 100th person who “likes” the page.
When having any type of account on a social network it is important to remember that interaction is needed. The word “social” in social media needs to be remembered. This is in no way implying that someone has to sit on the FaceBook page all day long and converse. But, it is important to your fans to have someone check in at intervals. It is also important that the page stays updated with the bands upcoming events. Getting a conversation going over upcoming gigs is not hard at all. The three seconds it takes someone to type and ask who will be going to the next event can and will start a conversation fast.
Another great social media platform is Twitter. This platform is very well known and once your followers know the band has an account there it can get very active. For some bands their followers are actually “Tweeting” live while the music playing is taking place. For those reading that are not at the event may well just be moved enough to go to the next one even if it means taking time off of work.
Promoting your band using social media is not nearly as difficult as it seems. Social media is a union of people gathering because they are all interested in the same things. If the band is not sure how to go about beginning all of the social media accounts and promotion there are social media experts that can be hired for a reasonable cost.
