How To Be A DJ - Anyone Can Do It

by Jeff
(Wauwatosa, WI USA)

Anyone who likes music can start DJing. With the popularity of portable music these days, all you really need is an iPod... but real DJ's use vinyl.

Lots of people are using a program called Serato hooked up to an Apple iBook. Basically this digitally transfers a song onto a "blank" vinyl that simulates the sound and motions of a real vinyl, all real time but all digitally as well.

A tip I have is that no matter what medium you use to play music, know your crowd. If you play some songs that you can sense a negative reaction, switch it up; whereas if the crowd is going wild keep on throwing them more party tunes.
