I have owned my Technics turntables for a few years now and put this site up so that you can share in some of the info I have picked up about how to DJ over this time. Being a club DJ and playing at dance parties (raves) is great. What you get is a dance floor packed with people who want good beats to dance to. You don't get requests to play Cliff Richard or whatever. You just get party people. I recommend this type of DJ work immensely. It's fun to make people get down and you get as much free booze as you (and anyone you're with) can drink. You should also get paid some money to buy more records with.
It's a good way to get your name out and its good practice as well. However, I had to bring in some of my own gear to the station each week so you must have the to make it possible.
If you are starting out always remember that you are there for the crowd - you're the host. Make sure everyone has a good time. And once you know how to DJ, and when you're ready to get out there in the clubs and parties to DJ and you're ready for some promo for yourself, build your site like mine, the best way I know how. People are interested in what DJs do so spread the knowledge. Hanging about drinking and DJ-ing in a club is a good way to meet new and interesting people so get out there and enjoy it!
