How to DJ
DJ Tips on How to Get Started

This whole site's about how to dj - so here's the rap on me, so you know I know what I'm talking about.

Hi my name is Guy. I have DJ-ed garage/2 -step and Drum n Bass dance music on student radio as well as at clubs and parties for over two years.

I have owned my Technics turntables for a few years now and put this site up so that you can share in some of the info I have picked up about how to DJ over this time.

Being a club DJ and playing at dance parties (raves) is great. What you get is a dance floor packed with people who want good beats to dance to. You don't get requests to play Cliff Richard or whatever. You just get party people.

I recommend this type of DJ work immensely. It's fun to make people get down and you get as much free booze as you (and anyone you're with) can drink. You should also get paid some money to buy more records with.

The radio work I've done over the last two years was also a good idea. Most local stations will be happy to give a dedicated specialist DJ a weekly show.

It's a good way to get your name out and its good practice as well. However, I had to bring in some of my own gear to the station each week so you must have the  to make it possible.

How to DJ Tools and Equipment Site

If you are starting out always remember that you are there for the crowd - you're the host. Make sure everyone has a good time.

And once you know how to DJ, and when you're ready to get out there in the clubs and parties to DJ and you're ready for some promo for yourself, build your site like mine, the best way I know how. People are interested in what DJs do so spread the knowledge. Hanging about drinking and DJ-ing in a club is a good way to meet new and interesting people so get out there and enjoy it!

You're an entertainer, you're the show... So do things that will make people remember their experience.

You can rap, sing, have a theme for your show. If you're interested in learning how to rap we suggest visiting TheStateofHipHop.com for hip hop advice, news, interviews and more.

Let me know what you need, what you think here; you can also offer some DJ tips to my readers here.

Thanks,
Guy
