Mixer Guidelines?!

by Allen Soyfer
(San diego)

Hey, so i bought the DJM 500 with a technics 1210 M5G.. i only have 1 turntable(sadly) BUt i try to make the most out of it. I try playing vinyls and experimenting with my mixer. But im still confused what to do with the 3 EQ's. I hear the difference.. but i cant exactly grasp what it would should be sounding like. Should i be turning the high a little and turning the mid to offset the high.. i just cant grasp what sound it'll return for me ..so is this just a matter of time before i start realizing what im doing? Because now im pretty much just guessing that its gonna sound like. I love using the flanger though.. its a nice effect.. and the echo is really nice.. i sometimes hold the entire vinyl( gracefully, without damaging the motor in the turntable) while having the echo on.. to have this really cool echo effect.. than put it back... but could you tell me a few good combinations i can do with my EQ's... like where to turn each knob. Like as in if i want an unsettling rive.. what could i do to emphasize that.. just things like that.. or i want to take the base completely out.. and than twidle around with the knobs and eventually dop it back into play. If that makes any sense at all..

But thanks again. I'll try my best experimenting with the highs and lows.. hopefully i get this soon enough

you can email me at Pirate.soyfer@yahoo.com

Thanks!

-Allen
