The Numark X2 Hybrid 

The Numark X2 Hybrid is a hybrid turntable and CD player created by DJ equipment manufacturer Numark.

Numark have a solid product history of turntables and CD players and were the first company to release a CD player with a full 12” control platter.

The X2 expands upon Numark’s previously released CDX turntable by allowing vinyl and CDs (audio and MP3) to be played from the same unit.

The feature list for the X2 hybrid is nothing short of impressive. Some of the key features that DJs will find themselves using regularly are:

Playing vinyl and CD at the same time

The Numark X2 Hybrid has three stereo RCA outputs: a CD only output, Turntable & CD output and Phono (Turntable) only output.

By connecting the CD only output to a line-in on your mixer and the Phono only output to another line-in on your mixer, it’s possible to scratch over music playing from CD.



The Beatkeeper™

The X2 has an automatic BPM counter built in to it. Forgot about counting the BPM yourself, let the X2’s patented Beatkeeper™ technology save you the hassle. You can still manually calculate the BPM of a song using the X2’s “TAP” button.

This allows you to tap along on beat, or tell the X2 where to start counting from.


Key lock

Key lock allows a DJ to hold the music at the current key. This means you can move the pitch slider, changing the speed of the music, but the key will remain the same. With the X2 it’s possible to move the pitch to 100%, essentially slowing the music down to a halt, while the X2 continues to play the last played tones of the music - a pretty cool and useful effect.


User defined starting and braking speeds

Startup and brake adjustment controls allow you to adjust the time it takes for the platter to start when pushing play and the amount of time it takes for the platter to stop after pushing the pause button. Using these controls you can mimic the familiar stopping force of the good old Technics 1200s. 





Ingenious “bleep” switch for on-the-fly censoring

Bleep switch for censoring out any swear words or dubious parts of a song. Holding the bleep switch while playing from CD temporarily reverses the music from the X2’s buffer but when released continues playing from the point the song would have reached during normal playback.
