Vinyl vs. Cd's

So I'm a newbie at this. I want to get into djing then eventually turning it into music production. Trance, House, Rave maybe even some pop and hip hop music. But before I skip to that. I was having some concerns about whether to start out digital or analog. I heard that the days of vinyl are limited and that cds and mp3s will soon take over. So which ones should I buy?

I've read this book by DJ Chuck Fresh that's called "How to Be a DJ" and he states that he had to completely convert over to digital due to the lack of vinyl today. I was looking at maybe purchasing the numark CDX1 or the Technics 1200. Which is a better choice? or should I go Vinyl? I'm really stuck. Any suggestions would help!
