Wedding DJs Specifics

I'd say one of the biggest things I've stressed to the bride and groom is be specific. Anything you don't give me specifics on will end up being my choice. I know how busy you'll be when it's time to get down to business and you won't want me breathing down your neck asking questions.
I don't mind picking out which song I'll play next, but ultimately I want you to be happy (you're paying my tab and potential tip, right?). If you say what songs specifically you're looking for, I can't really screw that up. But if you just say 'Oh we like classic rock and pop' then that leaves the door pretty wide open.
As for announcements, really think through in your head what you're looking for exactly. Should my announcements be booming and energizing or maybe subtle and simply a stepping stone to the next part of the night?
The more in-detail you are about the whole process, the more control over the whole evening. If you're not sure of how much control you want in my hands, confer with my references of previous gigs. They'll always clue you in on what to expect and how to manage my performance.
Hope this was helpful!
