When beat matching is not around.....

by kaRma
(Japan)

Hello. I'm dj kaRma. Living in Japan (U.S. Navy) and I've been DJ'ing for about 2 years now. A novice but quickly catching on and proudly have out done competition standing in my way.. :-)
I mainly spin HipHop but I've covered just about 3 to 4 different genres. I love this site and it rocks...

...on to the story...
Like i said I've only been DJ'ing about 2 years, as far as benefits are concerned...so I've been working with pioneer CDJ 800s and 1000s. I recently did a gig here in Japan at Yokohama BayHall... ( biG bIG BIG ) and I say the show went great. But the transition from the previous DJ to my stuff wasn't exactly gonna work as far as trying to mix. So making a fix in my head, I decided to go with (and maybe this has been done many of times) but I simply turned off the turntable to get that slow winding down....and as I slowly turned down the channel volume, I started my first track with full volume ( T.I. - Big Things Poppin ) with a banging intro. So the vision I created in my head worked. As I slowed the turntable to finish the previous track, everyone was sort of taken out of their groove, or how I visioned it...taken out of that world, and as I started the other track..which was cued on the first note...it gave the crowd life again, or put them into my world.
...maybe this has been done before, but I just wanted to share that. It was the first time I ever did it and It was the best thing I ever saw.

Thank you

kaRma
